National Skating Week was a huge success in Cleveland for the 2nd straight year. We thought it went well last year, but this year far surpassed our numbers from 2002.

Nine of our area figure skating clubs and rinks participated by giving free ice time and lessons. Many held skating exhibitions, had refreshments and all gave out information on the USFSA Basic Skills program. We are trying to promote all aspects of skating in Cleveland from figure skating, speed skating, hockey through the adult level and this past week certainly helped us in that endeavor.

We had TV coverage from several of our local stations, cable bulletin board coverage and lots of newspaper stories, not only from our large newspaper, The Cleveland Plain Dealer but all of our local Sun newspapers as well. We even had a large color photo and story on the front page of one of the local papers
