Nine Cleveland area rinks are participating in National Skating Month this year. Our local rink managers have donated ice time and our Learn-To-Skate directors, coaches and figure skating clubs have donated their time to make this an extremely successful event. Fox 8's Kenny Crumpton ran his morning show from Winterhurst Ice Rink helping us promote National Skating Month. Our local ABC affiliate, Channel 5 promoted us on several of their newscasts beginning Saturday evening right after the Ladies event at the US National Championships and a big "thank you" goes to Elizabeth Steck for helping to make that possible. The Cleveland Plain Dealer along with several of our local suburban newspapers wrote stories and ran photos publicizing all of our sessions. So far we have had anywhere from 25 to a high of 560 participants at the various rinks. Great things have been planned throughout the month not only offering free ice, free lessons and information that is being handed out, but there are also skating exhibitions, demonstrations, raffles, and prizes. Many thanks to US Figure Skating for providing us with the tools that help us promote skating in Cleveland.
