2002 Winner Graziella Tasca

Presented by Mentor FSC
In 1982, the City of Mentor opened its doors to the award-winning Mentor Civic Arena.  By 1988, the Mentor FSC received their official sanction from the United States Figure Skating Association.  Over the years, the club has seen many faces come and go, but 2 in particular have been the cornerstone of what the MFSC is today.

Linda and Henry Brown joined the MFSC in 1985 when their daughter Leslie began skating.  Since that time they have contributed countless hours of hard work and dedication to the club.  Linda has been MFSC delegate to the Cleveland Council for 16 years, and served as board member of MFSC from 1987 to 1997, holding offices of President, Treasurer, and Secretary. She has represented the club as delegate to USFSA Governing Council, and currently serves as Vice Chair of the Cleveland Council.

Although Henry never held an "official" position with the club, he was always there when needed.  He dedicated thousands of volunteer hours erecting parade floats, doing stage and scenery construction, doing fundraising, competition accounting, and just about everything else that needed to be done.

In recognition of Linda & Henry's past, present and future contributions, the MFSC will present an award each year at the annual Sunshine Invitational to the Champion of the Juvenile Ladies Freestyle Event as tribute.  On behalf of the MFSC we would like to say THANK YOU to Linda and Henry, and wish that their unselfish dedication may be an inspiration to all current and future members.   The first recipient of this award is Graziella Tasca, gold medalist of the 2002 Juvenile FS event at Mentor Sunshine Invitational.  Congratulations Graziella !!!!!
